Congrats on being crowned Miss Multiverse Australia 2018, Ashley. Tell us about the competition.
Miss Multiverse Australia is the Australian arm of an international model contest and reality TV show. After winning the Australian title, the next stop is competing overseas against the winners from 30 other countries. Models are scored not only on modelling skills but also their fitness and stamina, business skills, personality, mental and emotional strength and much more. So the challenges we are given literally test every part of who we are. Miss Multiverse focusses on finding the ultimate multi-faceted winner.
What does winning this title mean to you?
It means I can inspire women to follow and achieve their dreams by taking themselves outside of their comfort zone, believing in themselves through hard work, dedication, desire and passion. Miss Multiverse Australia is my first pageant and personality competition.
Why do you think you won?
I am very passionate, enthusiastic, supportive and every day I gave 100 percent, challenge or not. I focused on being the best I could be and not giving up. I took the rules seriously, listened well and aimed to keep positivity within the group.
Your win sees you represent Australia at the Miss Multiverse World Finals. Tell us more.
This is an amazing opportunity to prove to myself I can do anything I set my mind to. I put so much effort into everything I do and I am so proud of myself for never giving up on my dreams and following them whole heartedly. I am proud to hold the title of Miss Multiverse Australia, and beyond excited to represent Australia in the international TV series I Am Miss Multiverse at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I grew up in Nova Scotia, Canada but my spirit didn’t belong there – the weather was too cold, there were no opportunities and it didn’t feel right for my soul. So, I moved out of home the week after graduation, volunteered for a little while then saved up, travelled to many different countries, experienced culture, freedom and challenges that taught me so many incredible lessons. I started doing a bit of modelling when I was 15 and in 2014 I started taking modelling more seriously. Soon after I became the cover model for Fernwood Fitness Magazine and I’ve since done several shoots for fashion and swimsuit brands.
When did you move to Australia?
At 19 and I found a place where my heart feels at home – the sun, the sand, the culture, the food and the people. I have been here for over six years, I’m now an Australian resident and I call Brisbane home. I also studied health coaching at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition because I’m so passionate about inspiring young women to believe in themselves. I help my clients build a loving relationship with themselves, as well find the root cause to many health issues they may be experiencing. I also have a marketing business – I contract out to businesses as either their marketing manager or social media growth specialist.
That’s a lot of accomplishment. Where would you like to be in five years?
On the red carpet winning Academy Awards for best actress.
