XX Marks the Spot

Ferrari has pulled back the curtains on its latest track-focused hypercars, the SF90 XX and SF90 XX Spider, marking a departure from the XX’s traditional track-only exclusivity…

It was back in 2005 that Ferrari first introduced the XX badge with the launch of their Enzo-based FXX. Since then, the badge has been elusive – reserved for extreme track-only specials restricted to their best connected customers.
Now, that tradition has ended with the launch of the pair of SF90 XX – the first road-going Ferraris to wear the XX.

But don’t be fooled by their roadworthiness and number plates; these XX twins are no nonsense racetrack monsters created with one goal in mind – to deliver jaw-dropping eye-popping lap times.
The SF90 XX features a more aggressive aero package compared to the Enzo-based FXX, 599XX and LaFerrari FXX K. The front gets a large front splitter, while the rear gets a bigger diffuser, together producing 1,168 pounds of downforce at 250 km/h – sending chills to the competition.

The twin-turbo V8 scores new pistons and exhaust ducts, increasing output from 565 kW to 578. Not to miss out, the electric motors receive an upgrade to make 168 kW. For those counting, that brings total output to 746 kW – overtaking the Lamborghini Revuelto’s 736.

When running in Qualifying mode, a new ‘extra boost’ function from the electric motors adds more power when exiting a corner for those all important better lap times. Both variants can reach 100 km/h in just 2.3 and have a top speed of 320 km/h – despite the Spider weighing 100 kg more than the coupe.

The cabin features less prominent changes; it gets an Alcantara dashboard with plenty of carbon fibre trim and lighter seats. Expecting more?
Finally – an XX you can drive on the road. Although, out of the 799 Stradales and 599 Spiders built, all of them have already been sold. Finally – an XX you can dream about driving on the road.
