Meet the model, stylist, and business mogul. It’s time to get more acquainted with American beauty, JULIA JUDY…
Quality shoot Julia, can you tell us a bit about it?…
This shoot had an interesting twist to begin with. I had just moved to Miami and met a gorgeous woman who had recently founded and opened a spa and salon down the street from where I lived. We instantly hit it off. After she found out that I was a model, she invited me to a photoshoot that she was hosting for her salon the following day to promote it. The next day I attended the shoot and met the photographer. His name was Yevhenii and he was from the Ukraine. He embodied this incredible energy and charisma. I could tell that he had an artistic talent that I needed to experience. That same day we set up a future shoot together to pitch to MAXIM. And you love it!
Are there any other funny anecdotes you can share about this shoot?
Oh yes, for the cover look, we visited a local nude beach in order to be respectful since I was shooting topless. When we approached the beach, there was this perfect lone rock near the water with fantastic sun rays on it and we knew that it was the spot to tie together the outfit. The only problem was that there were two mature gentleman posted comfortably up in lawn chairs with drinks in hand in the direct line of sight of that rock. The photographer and I went back and forth for a few minutes debating on who would kindly ask them to relocate while we captured the shot…you can rightly guess that I had “won” the “pleasure” to stroll over and ask them in my full glam and racy outfit. They happily moved and watched us work our magic from afar.
Have you ever been to New Zealand?
I never have, it’s on the very tip top of my bucket list.
Where else would you like to visit?
My next dream travel destination is the Maldives. The sea covers 99% of it and this causes its thriving coral reefs and crystal clear white sand beaches. I’m drawn to the cleansing powers of the ocean and I can’t wait to visit there.
When do you feel sexy and why?
I always feel sexy when I slather oil and moisturizer all over my body after a long steamy shower accompanied by putting on a silk robe and slippers.
What is your best asset? Physically and otherwise.
I really love my smile and the power that it has to make others feel seen and special. I try to smile at everyone that I cross paths with. I also appreciate my long legs. I get them from my Father, they are a lucky genetic for a model for sure.
Give us a little more background about yourself and your life story so far.
I grew up in a small town in Ohio, I realised that I was a very independent person after I graduated from high school. Right away, I studied in Florence, Italy for half of a year and then returned back to The Ohio State University to complete my 4 year degree in business and communication. During that time I started my personal shopping and styling company, Julia Judy Styling. I offered custom Italian made clothing and wardrobe makeovers. That led to my next venture, Kloset. Kloset is a specialty business because I focus solely on a person’s dressing space. I design and implement custom buildouts, lighting, drawer inserts, purse, shoe, glasses, and jewelry displays and everything in-between in order to invent an extravagant closet. I enjoy organizing and constructing beautiful spaces, so a one-of-a-kind personalized closet business made sense. I knew the market for this would be better in a larger city and I always want to break out of my limitations. This year I finally moved to my dream city, Miami. I am modeling and running my companies while building my life through love and passion here.
What would people be most surprised to know about you?
That I really enjoy shooting firearms, I have my carry and conceal license and I am apart of a women’s pistol group.
How would you describe yourself in five words?
Driven, creative, thoughtful, health-conscious and elegant.
How long have you been modelling and what would do if you weren’t modelling?
I’ve been modelling since I was 15. I’m 25 now. If I had to choose another path to pursue besides modelling and my design and styling companies, I would have loved to be a veterinarian. I adore animals.
What have you learned about men over the years?
That they always come back. Always. Be choosy who you give a second chance to.
What’s one thing men should always know about women?
That we are smarter than they think and that we end up being right a lot of the time. At least 99%.
What do you look for in a man?
A man that is patient. It shows how he handles everything in life, especially under pressure.
Describe your ideal date.
A sunset picnic on the beach with champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries.
What can we get you at the bar?
A glass of Cabernet Sauvignon or a dirty martini.
Got a hangover cure?
A long bubble bath.
What’s your best hidden talent?
I’m a speedy reader and I listen to podcasts and audiobooks on 2x speed. I like to absorb and deliver information rapidly when I’m learning, I guess that could be a talent.
Do you have any phobias?
I’ve always been scared of the dark. When I was little I would sleep with multiple flashlights next to my bed, I still do.
Who is your girl crush and why?
Candice Swanepoel, Jasmine Tookes and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. They are all original Victoria’s Secret models and their beauty is so natural and captivating. They also all devote their time to nonprofits and other kind-hearted causes which I admire.
What is your motto in life?
Master health, wealth and happiness.
What’s next for you? Any exciting projects on the horizon you can share with us?
I always have more shoots and work that I am plotting on! Stay tuned to my instagram.
Finally, where would you like to be in five years?
My goal is to have a home in the United States as well as in Europe. I would like to be married and start having children in my dream home sometime in the next five to seven years. I am working on starting up a nonprofit to help underprivileged women by automatically donating a percentage of my company’s proceeds to clothing and resources for them. I plan to continue to expand my two business’s, Julia Judy Styling (juliajudystyling.com) and my newest venture, Kloset (kloset.miami) while continuing to model and meet new opportunities that await me.
