Readily equipped for all types of watersports, the Sea Doo Switch is changing the world of boating…
The Sea-Doo has been around since 1968, but there’s more of them to love than just their jet skis. For 2022, the veteran Canadian company introduces the Sea Doo Switch, a customisable hybrid fusion of jetski and party boat – and everything in between. Like a jetski, it has handlebars in place of a steering wheel, so naturally, controlling it is as intuitive as riding a bike. Simply throttle up or down, and utilise the brake and reverse system with a lever. With an innovative iBR steering system in place, tight cornering and docking is made that much easier if you’re a pontoon amateur – especially helpful when all your mates are watching.
The power behind the throttle starts with the 1630 Rotax ACE engine which produces 100 to 170 horsepower. With three driving modes (Sport, ECO, and Cruise), the dynamic jetski propulsion system provides more than enough agility and speed – especially for a pontoon. The tri-hull provides plenty of agility when cutting through the water, while at rest, the three pontoons provide great stability.
Using Sea-Doos’ own LinQ modular hardware, the entire deck (excluding the helm) is made of interlockable configurable ’tiles’ that can be changed to accommodate any adventure – with almost 100 layouts possible. This rapid change deck design can cater to a morning fishing trip, lunchtime picnic or an evening swim session.
With three different sizes, ranging from 4.0 to 6.4 metres, the passenger limits range from five to nine. The entire range will be built with a beam of just 2.4 metres, making them easy to tow behind a car in Australia. This level of fun and flexibility doesn’t come cheap though, with the Sea-Doo Switch starts at $25,000. We say fill up the cooler – this ultimate summer flex is well worth it.
