Classic Cat

In classic catamaran style, co-creators MAXIMILIAN TROICHER and ANJA DIDRICHSONS designed separate hulls, held together by a central platform, and included a wind sail to remind everyone it’s eco-friendly…

Some call it the Tesla factor, but auto engineers and designers continue to push EV technology forward — and it doesn’t seem to be slowing. In the maritime industry however, most ships still rely on fossil fuel engines, but that could soon change if groundbreaking electric platforms like the Sunbeam Concept ONE keep making the cover of Yachts Weekly.
Aside from its wind-driven ability, this catamaran utilises an EV propulsion system. At the top of the hulls, photovoltaic cells generate electricity for the engines and all other electrical equipment onboard. With favourable weather, the solar panels in strategic locations across the ship keep the batteries ever ready. It’s all about harnessing the wind when needed, and switching to the electric motors when loaded.
Below deck, you’ll find a futuristic control centre and a surprisingly spacious living quarters complete with a full galley, bathroom, home office, and pair of bedrooms toward the front of the ship. There’s even a retractable aft deck for swimming below.
If that doesn’t float your boat, the yacht comes with a pair of Tesi-style electric bikes that are wave capable. So forget jetskis, these amphibious motos can be taken out for a spin on the local waters alongside the yacht thanks to a pair of skis strapped to their chassis and front wheels.
Sunbeam have thought of everything, it will be marketed toward your average millionaire eco warrior/adrenaline junkie, so what’s not to love? Plus — those water bikes!
