The bike in question is the Triumph Rocket 3, whose 2,458cc inline triple turns out a peak 163 pound-feet of horsepower.
Most of us would be pretty chuffed with that, but that wasn’t enough for the big kahunas at Triumph, so they decided to slap their Rockets with darker paint and call them the Rocket 3 GT Triple Black — to get even more attention.
The carbon fibre front fender gets the dark treatment, so do the 47mm cartridge Showa forks, the handlebar clamps, and so on. It would be easier to list the parts un-pimped such as the Brembo Stylema Monoblock front calipers – which now ironically stand out.
The touring style stays, with a solid shield, laid-back ergonomics, and a plush passenger pillion for when you want to launch a wheelie or show up a Porsche with your 2.73 second zero-to-100 time. After all, it does have that behemoth 2.5 litre powerplant.
The Triple also features the standard Rocket 3 specs: heated grips, hill hold control, and four ride modes (Road, Rain, Sport, and Custom), all configured with My Triumph connectivity system and accessible on the TFT display.
Bikes will be limited to just 1,000 worldwide, and will come with a certificate of authenticity detailing the specific VIN number, and a plate low key bragging its large engine size. Like the Kawasaki H2R and BMW S1000RR, the Rocket 3 is a record setter. Now as the GT Triple Black — it’s on its way to legend status.
