Congratulations on your first MAXIM cover, Flor. How do you feel?
I feel very grateful and honoured to be gracing the cover of MAXIM’s special 10th birthday issue. It’s so awesome and I thank you so much.
The pleasure is all ours. What did you love most about this photo shoot?
I loved the location, Malibu Air Dream, which is located on the side of a beautiful mountain, overlooking the amazing ocean, in Malibu California.
Well, you look absolutely gorgeous. When do you feel sexy?
I feel sexy many times during my day, which also depends a lot on my mood. I believe sexiness and beauty is something inside which projects out. So, I’d say when I’m most happy is when I feel really sexy.
Your name is unique and beautiful. Is there a story behind it?
Yes, my mum loves Italy so she wanted to name me after a city in Italy. She was choosing between Marcela, Verona and Florença – by the way, it’s spelt Florenssa – and she picked Florença, but everybody calls me Flor. It’s easier to pronounce and also, Flor means flower in Portuguese.
Give us a little more background about yourself and your life story so far.
Growing up, I spent my childhood on our family farm – Hotel Fazenda Recanto das Montanhas. I went on to study law in the Universidade de Direito Milton Campos. While a profession in law was an option for me, I wasn’t passionate about it – I felt more drawn to a creative career. So, I decided to pursue my interest in fashion and moved to São Paulo. There, I started modelling for Mega Model Brazil and worked with them for a year before I was invited to work in Los Angeles. Despite not speaking English very well, I did not pass up the opportunity to expand my career, so I took free English classes and grew my career to being well-versed on the production side of the industry. I then opened a jewellery business called Kapitzky, which I later sold, and while I was studying I continued to take on modelling jobs. I consider myself to be a successful entrepreneur – I started a concierge business called The Time Fairy, which helps clients create once-in-a-lifetime memories. This luxury service takes out all the hassle of planning a vacation and provides access to exclusive locations and events. Furthermore, I’m also an investor in cryptocurrency and Amazon FBA.
Wow, sounds like you are hectic busy! What else do you do when you’re not posing for MAXIM?
I play polo – I love horses and have been riding them since I was a kid. I also go to church every Sunday and I sponsor two kids in Africa through childfund.org where we exchange letters often and I take care of them. His name is Faith and her name is Awa, and they are seven and three years old.
What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Never forget who you are, never forget where you came from, never forget where you are going and always be a good person and follow God’s wishes. All these things are going to be your strength to keep going and to never give up on life. Sometimes we can get distracted on the superficial things.
Being our special 10th Birthday, tell us about a special birthday you’ve had?
A birthday surprise at the Bel Air Hotel my friends organised for me last year. It was really cute and I felt so appreciated. The craziest birthdays I’ve ever had would be any I’ve celebrated in Las Vegas for sure! By the way, happy birthday, MAXIM Australia! Oh, and it’s also my birthday – on August 15 – so it’s a double celebration!
Happy birthday to you for the 15th! What’s the best birthday present you’ve ever received?
A letter, flowers and a hug.
Sweet. What’s the best way for a man to win his way to your heart?
He needs to have a good heart and soul, love animals, like sports, like adventures, be respectful and be a gentleman, loyal, kind and family oriented.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
Yes, I do. I also believe everybody has their twin flame and when you meet that person you can never like another person more – it’s going to be a forever love, like fairytales, but you need to be really good to the universe in order for you to have that. I still haven’t found my twin flame, but I’m sure at the right time he will show up.
What’s one thing men should always know about women?
We are very sensitive and emotional. All men should do everything they can to not hurt a woman’s feelings. I’m not just saying your partner, I’m talking about all women in this world. Women deserve to be treated with respect, kindness and appreciation always. Women are the portal of new lives, we all came from women so we must take care of them and admire them with respect.
Respect indeed! Finally, where would you like to be in 10 years?
I want to be married, with kids. I’d also hope to be travelling the world, going on new adventures, doing charity, playing sports and spending time with my kids, partner and friends. ■
