Hello, Sunessis, great MAXIM photo shoot. Tell us a bit about it.
The photo shoot was amazing! It was at a stunning mansion in Beverly Hills, California, and the idea was to do a cool and sexy shoot because it’s MAXIM. So, I wanted to do something really special and I felt really sexy the entire shoot because every outfit brought a different attitude and side of me.
Well, you look great. What is your best asset?
My legs and butt – I love to work out and, as I former professional dancer, the combination developed feminine curves.
Your name is very unique and beautiful — what does it mean?
Sunessis is an Egyptian name meaning fifth child and I am the fifth child in my family.
Nice one. Give us a little more background about yourself and your life story so far.
I was born in Santos, a beach city from Sao Paulo City, Brazil. I started my artistic career as a professional dancer and I used to teach Brazilian dance which led me to study and graduate in physical education. As well as modelling, I won some beauty contests like Miss Sao Paolo City, Fitness Girl and Miss Reef Brazil. My international career started when I won the Miss Reef International in Panama where I modelled all over the world in surf trade shows. I moved to Los Angeles two years ago and since then I’ve been studying with the best acting coaches and had the opportunity to meet and work with some amazing people in the industry.
As a commercial model and actress, what’s the best thing you’ve done on screen?
There’s a few! I starred in a big publicity campaign with Hugh Hefner for a beer company and for two years I was a major part of the vastly popular TV show called The Best of Brazil, where I appeared in sketches every week, playing an array of characters. This show is similar to America’s Saturday Night Live. I also starred in the film called The Incredible Isaura Garcia where I played the role of Isaura Garcia – one of the greatest singers of Brazilian popular music. Here, in the U.S., I’ve shot for two HBO shows – The Deuce and Westworld.
How have you been coping with these pandemic times?
I have been very careful about COVID-19, avoiding crowds and wearing mask all the time. The toughest part is not to be able to see and hug family and friends.
What’s the first thing you will do once all travel restrictions are lifted?
I will travel to meet friends all over the world!
Where’s the best place you’ve travelled to and why?
Mykonos, because it is so fun and the colour of the ocean is to die for.
Have you ever been to Australia?
No, but I would love to go! I hear Australia is really beautiful. I have a Brazilian friend who lived in the Gold Coast and she said it was the best time of her life and that Australians are very nice!
What’s one thing you would change about the world?
Social inequality and I would also end poverty and hunger.
What have you learnt about men over the years?
Men are really visual stimulated.
What’s one thing men should always know about women?
We love to be treated like a princess.
How can a man win his way to your heart?
By being my dance partner.
If you had to take MAXIM on a date, what would it entail?
It would entail a fun and great time, in a beach club, where we would have some drinks watching the sunset.
What’s next for you? Any exciting projects on the horizon you can share with us?
I will star in a Brazilian TV Series called Never Stop Dreaming, produced by 11Films, and I have two feature films I’ll be shooting in Los Angeles this year. ■
