Time to get acquainted with this sassy American fitness model, yoga instructor and part-time bartender who is also studying to become a registered nurse…
Sensational photo shoot for your first MAXIM feature, Caitlin, congrats! How do you feel?
I feel beyond grateful to be featured in a magazine I have always dreamt about being in. The shoot was all around Huntington Beach in California, USA, and it was all about bringing out my fun, playful personality.
Tell us a bit about your background and life story so far.
I grew up in a small town in Minnesota, USA, and made a short move to Fargo, North Dakota for school. I currently work at a bar called the Bulldog Tap, teach yoga and I’m also studying for my boards to become a registered nurse.
What made you also want to become a fitness model?
It was something so far outside of my comfort zone which is what pushed me to do it. I hate staying complacent and love throwing myself into a new challenge – little did I know I would fall in love doing it.
What’s the toughest thing about being a fitness model?
One of the toughest things would be realising your highs and lows and trying to not compare them to others. Everyone is on their own journey and it’s important to remember that your story is unique to you.
How would you describe the pressure in competitive fitness and bikini modelling?
The pressure is very high as there are many beautiful women that model and compete. However, I believe there is room for everyone to win – we need to build each other up instead of tearing each other down.
What’s the best advice you can give our readers on how to stay fit?
My advice would be to find that balance and don’t be so hard on yourself. Always remember to be grateful for what your body is capable of and take care of it.
What is your best asset?
My smile – I think it’s the best thing to wear. I also pride myself on being a very good listener.
When do you feel sexy?
I feel at my sexiest after crushing a solid workout. There is just something empowering after a solid leg day.
When you’re not keeping fit or posing for MAXIM, what else are you doing?
I’m probably running to the gym to lift, doing some yoga, travelling – when I can – and spending time with family and friends.
What do you look for in a man?
Qualities I look for in a man include trust, a sense of humour and confidence.
What’s one thing men should always know about women?
Men should always know when we say have fun — don’t have fun.
What’s the weirdest thing someone has sent you via social media?
I once had someone tell me they wanted to drink my bath water – that was a little weird.
How have you coped with COVID-19?
Let’s just say this year has been interesting. I think, if anything, it really reminds you to be grateful for everything you have – including the people in your life. I really miss travelling without all of the restrictions. The first I’ll do once all the travel restrictions are lifted is finally book that vacation!
Where is the best place you’ve ever travelled to?
This is a tough question because I love going anywhere. One of my favourite places is New York – it visited there around Christmas, which is my favourite holiday, and the lights and music just made it so magical. There’s just so much to do and see but it was impossible to experience it all in the five days I was there. I’d really love to go back.
Have you ever been to Australia?
I have always dreamt of going to Australia! I know Australia is known for its beaches and reefs. I’m such a water person so I really think I would feel at home in your amazing country.
What’s next for you?
I’m taking it one day at a time and just taking on as many opportunities that come my way. For now, I’m currently just focusing on passing my boards so I can help in this fight against COVID. ■
