It’s been a while since one of our favourite cover girls has appeared in MAXIM, so when L.A.-based CASEY BOONSTRA recently popped back home to Australia, we asked her for her favourites while she posed for yet another amazing feature shoot. You’re welcome…
SINCE I LAST APPEARED IN MAXIM I HAVE BEEN… busier than ever! The past 12 months have been wild. I’ve settled into my new life in the U.S. and have been travelling around the world working nonstop. Having said this, I am so glad to be home and very excited you are having me back for another feature! Thank you, MAXIM! SO. MUCH. LOVE.
THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS MAXIM SHOOT IS… it’s different to my previous MAXIM shoots. Neil [Dixon, photographer] and I have shot a handful of times together and every time we do a photo shoot we try to do something bigger and better than the last time. This time around we managed to find a European-inspired location on the NSW Central Coast, and it was gorgeous.
WHEN I’M NOT POSING FOR MAXIM I’M… living and working in L.A. I’m currently working as a TV host for EdgeTV network and so far it has been amazing. I’m constantly travelling all over the world and feel like I’ve been spending more time in tropical overseas locations than I am in L.A. My social media has also allowed to me travel, work and connect with some amazing people all over the world. I’m feeling very grateful to be in the position I am at this point of my life and I’m looking forward to continuing to grow in my career and see where the next year will take me. I will be looking into trying acting and possibly stunt performing early 2020.
BESIDES FAMILY AND FRIENDS, THE THING I MISS THE MOST ABOUT AUSTRALIA IS… just the fact that it’s one of the most beautiful countries in the world. There is no place like Australia – the beaches, the views, the food, the people… everyone is so friendly! I miss it A LOT!
WHENEVER I COME BACK HOME TO AUSTRALIA I ALWAYS MAKE SURE TO… eat all my favourite foods America doesn’t have, see all my family and best friends for a catch up drink, let my MAXIM family know I’m home in case they want to see my face. You know, just all the standard important things.
MY BEST ASSET IS… if we are talking looks wise I’d say my eyes or my skin. I get so many compliments on how soft my skin is and that it’s a nice colour. I don’t spray tan and it always stays pretty olive. I’m thankful for that – I can thank my Opa for my European skin!
I feel sexy when…I’ve been consistently working out, eating healthy and looking after myself. I notice changes in my body, mind and my productivity when I’m focused and in a routine. It’s hard to always be in that routine when travelling so much, so when I’m consistent it feels damn sexy to me!
I CAN BEAT ANYONE AT… a good pun. Well, I’d like to think I can beat anyone at a good pun. I’m pretty punny – sometimes they are awful but they still work.
I AM MORE COMPETITIVE THAN… most people. I’m competitive when it comes to anything – even if it’s a board game… I’m competitive.
THE REASON I AM STILL SINGLE IS… because being single is the best! I haven’t met Mr. Right yet and I’m in no rush to do so.
THE WORST PICK-UP LINE I’VE EVER HEARD IS… “Can I follow you? My parents always told me to follow my dreams.” I laughed, it was kind of clever, but still cringe worthy.
A GUY IS MORE LIKELY TO GET LUCKY WITH ME IF… he is genuine, fun, funny and has good banter. I like a guy who doesn’t take himself too seriously but also has a kind heart.
ONE THING A GUY SHOULD REMEMBER ABOUT WOMEN IS… we are constantly changing our minds. What seems is right today, might not be tomorrow – but don’t take it personally.
WHAT I FIND SEXY ABOUT MEN IS… men being men! Men are sexy! You all have your individual ways to be sexy. A man that smells good, though, I’ll let him know.
THE FUNNIEST THING THAT’S HAPPENED WHILE ATTENDING A MAXIM VIP PARTY IS… my bestie Casey Costelloe and I decided to dress up as matching sexy skeletons to the Ultra Tune MAXIM HOT 100 Halloween party this year. We wore these metal chain tops and painted our faces with black and white paint. By the end of the very fun and crazy night, both our faces were smudged and our tops had completely broken off. Luckily, we had some nice friends there to lend us their jackets so we didn’t have to walk out of the club with, well… no tops on! We looked like Dawn of the Dead extras walking out of the party – lucky you guys got our photo at the start of the night!
MY FAVOURITE FOOD IS… Sushi would be my favourite right now. I LOVE food.
MY FAVOURITE BAR IS… I spent almost a month in Mykonos this year and I have to say Scorpios is my ultimate favourite spot. It’s all open and outdoors, the sunset is incredible, it backs onto the beach, the food is to die for and during the European summer season there are so many amazing people there.
MY FAVOURITE SONG OF ALL-TIME IS… “Send Me On My Way” by Rusted Root. I’ve listened to it forever and it never gets old. It’s my alarm in the mornings and I wake up every day in a good mood. My sister played it at her wedding, too, so it’s attached to a lot of good vibes for me.
MY FAVOURITE MOVIE… has always been The Shawshank Redemption. After watching this movie in high school it’s been my favourite. It’s so good on so many levels – the more times I watch it the more I appreciate it.
MY FAVOURITE ACTOR IS… Margot Robbie. I grew up watching her on Neighbours and now she is absolutely killing it in Hollywood working with some of the biggest names out there! She is definitely my inspiration — Aussie pride!
MY FAVOURITE PASTIME IS… training, getting outside, and spending time with myself and loved ones.
MY SUPERPOWER WOULD BE… teleportation. I’d save so much time getting to places and I could come visit you guys all the time!
PUBLIC NUDITY IS… great, if you want to run around naked. Go for it! Be free!
AT BEDTIME I WEAR… nothing, usually. Even if I try to wear pyjamas I wake up all twisted in them and end up taking them off.
THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE ANYONE HAS EVER GIVEN ME IS… life is happening FOR us not TO us – everything in life teaches us something. Good or bad – you learn and grow. Be proud of the person you are becoming.
In five years I’d like to… keep moving in the direction I am. I’m loving hosting TV, so to grow in the industry would be amazing. I’m also getting into acting next year so I’d love to work my ass off and hopefully in five years you might see me on the big screen. Who knows?! Stay tuned! ■
