Tell us about yourself, Emmi.
I won a swimwear competition last year, and since then I’ve been doing some modeling here and there. Now I’m in the first issue of MAXIM Australia – I’m pumped!
You’re one of The MAXIM 5 – an elite taskforce of fine femmes sworn to please the eyes of men everywhere. What makes a MAXIM girl?
She’s really comfortable in her own skin, she has a playful and adventurous personality, and she’s approachable but also has a lot of presence. Most of all, the reader has to feel like they can connect with her on some level. It’s not just about looks.
Couldn’t have said it better ourselves. Hey – Emmi also happens to be the name of a brand of Swiss dairy products. What’s your favourite type of dairy?
I like all dairy, but my favourite food is Mexican. Burritos are my specialty.
EMMI is also the acronym of the ExtreMe Matter Institute. One of their research areas is “the hottest forms of matter in the Universe”. Would you say you’re one of the Universe’s hottest forms of matter?
I’d place myself mid-range at best.
When you aren’t setting the camera ablaze, how do you spend your days?
Study takes up most of my time. I’m majoring in Mass Communications, which incorporates PR, marketing and journalism. I really enjoy it because getting to use my intellectual side balances out the whole modeling thing.
What’s something that men should know about women?
A lot of men are clean-shaven but what I’ve heard from girls is that they like guys with stubble and a more laidback look. I think men feel like they have to be polished, but not all of us like that.
Excuse us while we throw out our razor. What’s a compliment women always want to hear – even when guys are too lazy?
Really, a compliment is a compliment. It’s a nice thing in itself, and better than having a guy yell out at you. If someone comes up and gives me a compliment, I’m not gonna say, “I wish you’d said this instead.”
What impresses you about a guy?
I like confidence minus the arrogance, and someone who can hold a conversation. People always talk about how humour is the most important thing, but it is. A relationship won’t work if you’re just solely attracted to each other. You need to be friends and enjoy being in each other’s company – and humour is a major part of that.
Describe a typical night out with Emmi.
A night out will always be with the girls, who are all blonde – except me. There’s a big group of us, maybe 15. It involves a lot of laughter, a lot of champagne and a lot of dancing. A few drinks in and I think I’m great a dancer – which I’m not.
Had any memorable evenings recently?
Last October, my girlfriends and I went to Mexico for five days. It was pretty crazy. We drank heaps of tequila, as you do, and went out with these girls from Sydney who took full advantage of the stripper poles at a nightclub. For some reason, the locals didn’t really enjoy it. I should note – that’s a heavily edited version of my Mexico adventures.
Guess we’ll have to buy the book. How do you spend a quiet night in?
I’m obsessed with online shopping, which is a seriously boring response. I watch a lot of rom-coms, too. That’s not a much better response, is it?
Not really. If you could be an animal, what would you be?
I love monkeys. Mum reckons when I was young, all I used to do was talk about how much I wanted a pet monkey. I’ve seen ads overseas where you can buy them and they’re wearing little outfits.
Your online shopping history is just monkey websites, isn’t it?
You got me figured out! That’s my typical Saturday night. I go online and bid on all the monkeys.
