Created with the University of Oxford’s leading sensory academic, ‘Triple Mash Medley’, is scientifically proven to elevate the drinking experience of Jack Daniel’s latest whiskey, Triple Mash Bottled in Bond.
Mashing together the worlds of whiskey and music, Jack Daniel’s has unveiled a new genre of drinking experience, inspired by the nation’s growing love for country music.
Coined the ‘Triple Mash Medley’, the world’s first ‘sonically seasoned’ country track has been meticulously crafted by the University of Oxford’s leading sensory academic, Professor Charles Spence, and award-winning musicians, String Musicians Australia, to elevate the drinking experience of Jack Daniel’s latest whiskey, Triple Mash Bottled in Bond.
Pairing classic country instrumentation of acoustic guitar, fiddle, and double bass, with tasting notes of grassy herbs and peppery spice, rich toasted oak and deep caramel, and honeyed, toasted granola, the result is a true feast for the senses with sonically-enhanced flavours and aromas.
The culmination of decades of sensory research, the track employs a process known as ‘sonic seasoning’ to analyse and highlight Triple Mash’s unique blend of three bottled-in-bond whiskeys.
Professor Charles Spence explains: “Sonic seasoning is the process by which sound and music is deliberately paired with taste and flavour to enhance the experience. In fact, studies show that musical accompaniments can enhance different food and drink flavour notes by over 10 per cent.”
“By applying this knowledge to the world of country music, we’ve been able to create something incredibly different; a composition that is scientifically proven to complement your whiskey-drinking experience, while remaining quintessentially country.”
The release of Triple Mash Medley follows the launch of Jack Daniel’s Triple Mash Bottled in Bond, the second instalment in the brand’s Bonded Series.
Developed under the oversight of Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller Chris Fletcher, the 100-proof super-premium whiskey features a blend of three straight bottled-in-bond whiskeys – Jack Daniel’s Bonded Rye Whiskey, Jack Daniel’s Bonded Tennessee Whiskey, and Jack Daniel’s Bonded American Malt Whiskey. The result is a perfectly well-rounded spirit with a bold and complex flavour profile.
Jack Daniel’s Brand Ambassador and resident whiskey expert, Andy Tsai’s comments: “We know the whiskey-tasting experience is almost as important as the whiskey itself. With Triple Mash Medley, we’re offering something brand new – a novel way to enjoy whiskey built on Australia’s love of country music, while combining it with our roots stretching back to the birthplace of country music in Tennessee.
“We can’t wait to hear what our fans think about Triple Mash Medley and to see what we have in store for the next release in the Bonded Series”.
To celebrate the launch of Triple Mash Medley, Jack Daniel’s will be hosting a series of free sonically-seasoned tastings throughout October and November only to those who meet the requirements and register.
In three intimate events across Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney, selected guests will embark on a sensory journey – exploring the relationship between sound and taste with a distinct country flair.
